Adding a rich and hydrating fragrance-free body lotion to your skincare routine can work wonders to help soothe and moisturize dry skin. When shopping for body lotions for dry skin and sensitive skin, dermatologists generally recommend looking for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides (which help replenish essential skin barrier components). For those with drier skin, thicker creams are also preferable to lotions because they do a better job locking in moisture and restoring the skin barrier function better.
Unfortunately, options for great fragrance-free body lotions for dry skin are minimal. Finding a good, hydrating fragrance-free lotion if you have sensitive, dry skin is nearly impossible.
Many products claim to be fragrance-free while actually containing extracts, oils, and other “natural” ingredients that can irritate sensitive skin. And this means that many people with sensitive skin find it challenging to find a completely fragrance-free product without any masking fragrances or other known allergens.
The best fragrance-free body lotions and creams to try
There are countless moisturizing products on the market for dry skin, but only a few fragrance-free body lotions that deeply moisturize and are a good fit for dry skin.
We, therefore, decided to test all the fragrance-free body lotions on the market. We have carefully studied ingredient lists to ensure that they are all really fragrance-free and do not contain any scents or masking fragrances. We have then used each of them for an extensive period to ensure that they live up to their allergy-friendliness promise and deliver as a deep moisturizing lotion suitable for dry skin.
Below are the results of our in-depth testing and the 6 best fragrance-free lotions for dry and sensitive skin that will leave you with baby-soft skin in no time while not causing a perfume-allergic reaction.
Our #1 pick
Eucerin Fragrance-Free Advanced Repair Cream

Best price for Eucerin Fragrance-Free Advanced Repair Cream
Eucerin Advanced Repair cream for dry skin is enriched with Ceramides-3 and Natural Moisturizing Factors. Like the Advanced Repair Lotion (see below), this cream also contains Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter. The formula is great for healing and softens drier skin, making it a great post-shower lotion for evening baths. The consistency is not greasy, but it does take a little while for it to absorb completely.
For the price and the quality, nothing beats the Eucerin Fragrance-Free Advanced Repair Cream. That’s why it’s our #1 pick.

If price is less important, we believe that the Clinique Deep Comfort Body Butter is the best pick among the best fragrance-free body lotions for dry skin.
Like all other Clinique products, the body butter is completely fragrance-free and free of phthalates.
The buttery consistency of the cream (it contains shea butter) makes it particularly great for dry skin and for slathering on before bedtime. Our other Clinique favorite, the Clinique Deep Comfort Body Moisture, is lighter in texture and better for daytime use. We love that the Deep Comfort Body Butter is silky, feels luxurious, and quickly soothes dryness.
Is it worth the 4 times higher cost than the Eucerin? Probably not, but it does not have it be an either-or. Use the Eucerin Advanced Repair Cream for daily use and the Clinique for when you need something extra.
Other good and recommedable options
Vanicream Fragrance-Free Body Lotion With Pump

Best price for Vanicream Fragrance-Free Moisturizing Cream
Vanicream Moisturizing Cream has been awarded the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association. It’s one of the best fragrance-free lotions for sensitive skin because it contains absolutely no fragrances, masking fragrances, or other common chemical irritants such as dyes, lanolin, parabens, or formaldehyde.
This trusty cream is ideal for dry, irritated, cracking, or itchy skin. It also works wonders for dry skin associated with eczema, psoriasis, and ichthyosis. In addition, it’s gluten-free as well as non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores), and the fragrance-free moisturizing cream doesn’t contain any botanical extracts or essential oils.
Having said that, we find that the cream is very dense so it’s definitely a cream that should be applied before going to bed – and given enough time to ‘soak in’ before hitting the sheets.
Vanicream does make a lighter version, called the Vanicream Lite Lotion (read our review), for those who prefer a less heavy cream. However, the lite version is better suited for less dry skin and daytime application.
Cetaphil Moisturizing Fragrance-Free Body Cream

Best price for Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream, very dry, sensitive skin
Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is a thick, moisture-rich fragrance-free body lotion with vitamin E. It comforts and hydrates dry to very dry, sensitive skin without leaving a viscous, sticky feeling. Do note that the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is enriched with Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond) oil if you prefer to stay completely clear of any oils.
This petrolatum-based moisturizing cream works well for drier skin types, leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth, and nourished. However, it does take a little while for the moisturizing body cream to absorb after applying it. The easiest workaround is to use it for nighttime only, right after showering. This allows you to reap all of the hydrating benefits without having to postpone getting dressed in the morning (when you’re probably running late).
Overall, the Cetaphil Moisturizing Fragrance-Free Body Cream is a good, fragrance-free lotion that keeps skin smooth and hydrated. While I prefer my body lotions to be completely fragrance-free and free of any oils, this cream from Cetaphil didn’t irritate my skin. It also didn’t have a scent.
That said, if you’re going after a completely fragrance-free cream, you might want to skip this one, which is why we rate it just a notch under the above 3 best fragrance-free body lotions.
Eucerin Original Healing Fragrance-Free Body Lotion

Best price for Eucerin Original Healing Fragrance-Free Lotion
Seller | Size | Price |
---|---|---|
RiteAid | 16.9oz / 500ml | $11.49 |
Amazon | 16.9oz / 500ml | $11.77 |
Walgreens | 16.9oz / 500ml | $12.49 |
Eucerin Original Healing lotion is free of fragrances and dyes, non-comedogenic, and formulated not to irritate sensitive skin. It is richer than Eucerin’s Advanced Repair Lotion (our #1 pick), and it’s formulated to help heal extremely dry compromised skin.
Since it is a quite rich lotion, some might find the consistency too thick, and as a daily fragrance-free body lotion, it may not be the best choice (we think that would be the Advance Repair Lotion). However, we recommend that you keep the Eucerin Original Healing Fragrance-Free Lotion in stock for severe bouts of skin dryness.
Eucerin Advanced Repair Fragrance-Free Body Lotion

Best price for Fragrance-Free Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion
Seller | Size | Price |
---|---|---|
Amazon | 16.9oz / 500ml | $11.77 |
Walgreens | 16.9oz / 500ml | $11.99 |
RiteAid | 16.9oz / 500ml | $11.49 |
The Eucerin Advanced Repair Fragrance-Free Body Lotion is an affordable pick from Eucerin (one of our all-time favorite allergy-friendly brands). It’s formulated with Ceramide-3 (which locks in moisture) and Natural Moisturizing Factors.
The Advanced Repair Lotion for very dry skin repair is completely fragrance-free, non-greasy, and is a good body lotion for everyday use. While the lotion from Eucerin is fragrance-free, it does contain shea butter. That said, we like the lotion (and, most importantly, haven’t experienced any skin irritation).
It also works well as a body lotion, and it absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving a lightweight, unnoticeable coat. However, it’s not quite as effective against skin dryness as Eucerin’s Advanced Repair Lotion and is a better choice as an everyday body lotion when not combating dry skin.
